Craving Greek Sandals

I've received the constructive criticism that I gush indiscriminately about every city I visit, claiming each one is the best yet. Well, now I'm in Athens and let me say yuck! The Acropolis is an important monument and there are some cool columns laying around, but this is perhaps the dirtiest city I've ever seen. It's the same country but a different world than the Greek islands. People wear functional shoes here, instead of fun Greek sandals. We're actually trying to get an earlier flight out of here.
We left Santorini this morning and I miss it already! Yesterday was incredible. We went on an all day boat tour. We cruised out the caldera and climbed the volcano that created the island of Santorini. The dirt was literally burning hot. Then the boat cruised around the island and the guide explained that between the rocks there were some hot springs. Then he said, "Okay, hop out!" We were probably a quarter mile from the island. So we jumped out of the boat into the middle of the ocean and swam between the black lava rocks into the hot springs. We were swimming through cold ocean then we'd suddenly swim over a hot sulfur pocket. For lunch we had wine and seafood on a deck with the ocean lapping under our feet, followed by chocolate ice cream. We napped in the sun then boated back to our end of the island. After a quick shower, we headed out for umbrella drinks and to watch the famous sunset on one side of the island and the moon rise on the other side. But now we are in Athens. We met a fun meteorologist from New Orleans and had a great four hour dinner, but otherwise, I'm missing the sand and ocean breeze!
