We've been adopted!

Our guidebook said it was an "easy" train ride from the Izmir airport to the city of Selcuk, where we were staying just near the ruins of Ephesus. So we found our way to the train station and it was completely desolate. Not a soul. So having no other directions and no Turkish dictionary, we found our way onto a shuttle bus. We had no idea where it was going and I was getting really stressed out, so I asked the Japanese girl next to me if she spoke English. She did and also a bit of Turkish. Then she spoke to the Turkish girl in front of her, who spoke a little English and German. Soon we had the whole front of the bus helping us in various languages. Finally we found an old Turkish woman who as far as we could tell was going where we were going. She didn't speak a word of English, but through the line of people we got "follow her." Ah, adventure!
Two crazy bus rides later, where everyone is highly amused by our motley crew, we end up in the Izmir bus station. Perihan's son, Ouz, meets us. He completely reminded Trina and me of Adam. They were going to Kusadasi, which is near Selcuk. We followed them to where you buy tickets, but he had already bought them for us. When we got to Kusadasi, they took us home for coffee. He had a Mr. Coffee, but he didn't know how to use it, so we showed him. He was pretty impressed. The other son, Kubilay, comes home and we all go to dinner. Then Kubilay finds us a hotel and checks us in.
We were completely adopted by this darling Turkish family. We ended up spending about 10 hours with them. It was crazy, confusing and so endearing. The Turkish people are unlike anyone!!!!
